The inertia (resistance to change) of a social system is proportional to its size. Therefore economic globalisation presents a high degree of danger. As the world moves more and more towards a single integrated economic system, this system will encounter ever more difficulties to adapt to a changing environment. The globalised economy will in the long run have to crash violently in order to allow for an adaptation to a rapidly changing environment.
